You’d hurriedly type into your url browser http://localhost/index.php/admin and input the username and password you’ve recently created but NOTHING happens. Instead you got an Error…  😳

You’ve tried to input the default username: admin and default password: 123123 in Magento 1.7 but still nothing happens. Instead you get an Invalid Username or Password… 😳

You’ve tried to use the Forgot your Password option in Magento 1.7 and entered your email address but still nothing happens. In fact, you didn’t receive any emails… 😳

Well, you are not alone. I’ve been thru all these problems and it consume me almost 2 hours just trying Login in Admin Panel. So, how do we solve or fix these Admin Login Error in Magento 1.7?

Here are the 3 possible solution to solve Admin Panel Login Error in Magento 1.7:

  1. Instead of using localhost into your url browser, try using as shown below.
  2. Above solution doesn’t work? Try solution #2. Open and modify the Varien.php using Notepad or any editor.It is located inside your wamp folder. Take note which drive you’ve installed the WAMP in your PC. In my case, I installed my WAMP in drive D: See path below.[text] D:\wamp\www\magento\app\code\core\Mage\Core\Model\Session\Abstract [/text]Find these Code and just place a comment (Meaning, place a ” // ” before each line) . If you use Editor, these code are easily found in lines 89 to 91. (On my code below, I am referring to lines 5, 6, and 7). Save and restart your wamp.[php] // session cookie params
    $cookieParams = array(
    ‘lifetime’ => $cookie->getLifetime(),
    ‘path’ => $cookie->getPath(),
    //’domain’ => $cookie->getConfigDomain(),
    //’secure’ => $cookie->isSecure(),
    //’httponly’ => $cookie->getHttponly()
    ); [/php]
  3. Still doesn’t work? Try solution #3. Run SQL query/queries on database.Magento-1.7-Run-SQL-queryGo to your WAMP -> phpMyAdmin->Select the database where you install Magento (left side) ->Click SQL (top menu) -> Copy-Paste the code below -> GO[text] SELECT * FROM admin_user; [/text]Then, find the username you want to modify in the listing provided – ‘admin’ in this example. Then, to update the password, type in below code and run again in SQL Query:[text] UPDATE admin_user SET password=CONCAT(MD5(‘qXpassword’), ‘:qX’) WHERE username=’admin’; [/text]

    Note: qX’ would be changed to whatever you want it to be and same goes for ‘password’

That’s all folks. I hope one of the solutions above will fix your Admin Panel Login problems in Magento 1.7
