If you still remember on my first post in Beginners Guide in Building a Website, I strongly recommend Hostgator as your hosting. The reason for this is that Hostgator offers a Quick Installation of wordpress on their cPanel. This is actually very useful for all beginners since you don’t need to configure the database yourself.
By now, I presume you already had your site hosted by Hostgator. Below is a detailed tutorial on installing wordpress in Hostgator the easiest way ideal for all beginners.
Beginners Step-by-Step Guide: Install WordPress in Hostgator.
Login to your Hostgator cPanel.
On the middle of your left sidebar, you should be able to see Quick Install WordPress for your site. Click to Install.
On the next page, just press Continue.
Then, Select the domain on which you want to install wordpress. Here you can decide where you want to install wordpress. Either at the root of the directory or under sub domain. Foe example :
Root Directory : http://www.maxtein.com
Sub directory : http://www.maxtein.com/blog
So if you want to keep your blog title like Maxtein, keep it blank.
You also need to mention your blog username and password. Which you will be using to access to admin panel. Base configuration settings can be altered later without any problem. But do add admin email address.
The admin email address is very important because it’s where Hostgator will send your username and computer-generated password on your site.
Be sure to cross check if you have done everything right. Else rolling back things will consume time. Click on Finish Installation to complete the process.
On the next page you will get the confirmation about the wordpress install. And you can go to your admin area by adding wp-admin suffix to your domain name. Example: “http://maxtein.com/wp-admin/”. Use the username and password that hostgator recently sent to your email.
Once you’re inside wordpress dashboard, be sure to change password when you’re inside your wordpress dashboard. It’s located in WordPress -> Users -> Your Profile -> Change Password.
This is the easiest way on how to Install WordPress in Hostgator. On my next post, I’ll show you how to configure wordpress for beginners. Follow me in Configure WordPress for Beginners.
